A Call to Artists from Arts Perspective Magazine
Every creative journey starts with a spark — that first flicker of inspiration that sets everything.
For our launch season, Arts Perspective Magazine is featuring a special visual and written piece called “The Spark That Started It All.” We’re inviting regional creatives to share a brief, personal reflection on the moment that sparked their creative journey.
Your spark might be a mentor, a place, a memory, a feeling, or a turning point — the moment you realized you were called to make, write, perform, cook, compose, or create.
What to Submit
We’re seeking a 150-word first-person vignette that describes your spark, along with one early or meaningful visual element, such as:
- A childhood drawing
- Your first instrument
- An early studio or rehearsal photo
- A work-in-progress sketch
Together, these stories will form a collective celebration of beginnings — honoring the moments that shaped our region’s creative voices.
How to Participate
Please submit through March 2026 with the following:
- Your name, creative discipline, and short bio (50 words)
- A 150-word reflection on your “spark”, written in first person
- One accompanying image or photo
(JPEG or PNG preferred, 300 dpi when possible)
Selected stories will appear online at www.artsperspectivemag.com and be featured in The Eye on the Arts, our weekly Monday e-newsletter highlighting the people, ideas, and inspirations shaping our regional arts scene.
Participants are encouraged to tag, share, and celebrate their story across social media and personal websites — and if you’re so inclined, Buy Me a Cup of Coffee to help support independent arts journalism.
Let’s spread the love — and honor the sparks that started it all.
